Rating: 6.5

First, the bad news: half of these songs seem to use the same chords at different tempos, and seeing as how the album only runs about 35 minutes, it's more noticable than you think.

Now, the good news: hey, if you pick this fucker apart like an orange, you've got plenty of good songs to munch on.

Sprout, of course, is better known as the guy with the high voice in Guided By Voices. He has left the band, and this is his second solo album. You still get great pop songs in the vein of George Harrison (the beautiful title cut ) and Alan Parsons ("Angels Hang Their Socks On the Moon", or as I call it, "Don't Answer Me 1997.") Other tracks, like "Paper Cut" and "Since I..." could pass for outtakes from Under the Bushes Under the Stars. Not quite up to par with those GBV albums we've come to know and love, but a fine effort in its own right.
