[Zero Hour]
Rating: 6.6
A drony, psychedelic trip through the outer reaches of time and
space, where dust particles dance a sacred dance, the stars shoot
fire, and planets pass you by. Oh, wait. That's just my lava lamp.
Having stolen their album title from the Holy Modal Rounders'
1968 Elektra release, The Moray Eels Eat The Holy Modal
Rounders, these guys are on to tackle the universe with
spacy melodies and 13- minute- long jam sessions.
But Iron Butterfly it isn't. These lengthy opuses actually
show creativity, and lots of it. However, if you're one
of the short- attention- span types (like myself), you
might find yourself more intrigued by the terrific pop
numbers, "Never Lonely Alone" and "Love Left Us Strangers."
It goes on a bit too long, but what the hell do you expect?
It's their swan song! They had to get self-indulgent at
some point.
