Cover Art Windy and Carl
Depths
[Kranky]
Rating: 9.3

Slipping into the same pairs of shoes they must have worn while recording Antarctica, Windy and Carl are back with Depths, an equally chilly and just as moving batch of icy cool lullabies with more freeze than a Dairy Queen and more chill than Puff Daddy. Deep from within these musical entanglements, Windy and Carl play to the very cocoon that keeps 'em nice and cold, hoping to melt the bastard from within. It's amazing what they can coax out of a guitar, a bass, a voice, and 4,000 effects pedals, and yeah, I mean that in a good way. I feel like a knob trying to put it into words, but if you're a fan of My Bloody Valentine or Brian Eno's ambient works, Depths is next on your "must buy" list.

And if you like Van Halen, Windy and Carl don't want anything to do with you.

...I like Van Halen.
