Supersuckers
Must've Been High
[Sub Pop]
Rating: 8.6
Next up to bat in the rock- gone- country subgenre is
rockabilly- satanica group, The Supersuckers. But a
listen to Must've Been High might convince you
that the album was recorded for reasons other than
publicity and increased cashflow.
If you're a Supersuckers fan, you might have guessed
that each and every one of these songs rule. From
the minor- keyed, lone- prairie title track to a duet
with Kelley Deal (who, by the way, has a vocal capacity
similar to the classic country, crooning females of
the past), "Hungover Together," to the relaxed, on- the-
porch feel of "One Cigarette Away," this is genuine down-
on- my- luck emotion. Throw me a Bud.
