[Polypterus/Atlantic]
Rating: 7.5

This is a solo project put out by Greg Graffin, lead singer of Bad Religion. It's mostly acoustic guitar and piano accompanied by a mellow Graffin, sounding an awful lot like Gordon Lightfoot off lithium. The songs are predictably about society's shortcomings and the eternal struggle of America's lower classes, the failure of the government to provide its citizens with a reason to live, and leaves and trees and flowers and love and rain. According to the liner notes, these are the songs Graffin wrote for himself over the past ten years, separate from the music he wrote for Bad Religion. If you're a hard-core Graffin fan, this is all right.
