Cover Art Up, Bustle and Out
A Dream of Land and Freedom EP
[Ninja Tune]
Rating: 8.9

With nine or so odd members, a brand new ass-kicking record on Ninja Tune and a reputation as one of electronica's most innovative bands, Up, Bustle and Out aren't just fucking around. What they prove on A Dream of Land and Freedom is that their beats and samples are just as politically active as they are musically. The EP is not just an unbelievably outstanding piece of work, it's also a concept album. Weird as that might seem, Land and Freedom is an homage to Argentine revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara.

Through South American-tinged drum-n-bass, fastly-strummed acoustic guitars and distant, sampled vocals, Up, Bustle and Out tell Guevara's story. The disc is comprised mostly of remixes of one song, but it all flows together to create 35 minutes of pure, intense magic that never grates.
