FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What is epulse?
A: epulse is the musically omnivorous free weekly ezine published via email by Tower Records/Video and brought to you by the editors of Pulse! magazine.

Q: What is Tower Records?
A: C'mon!

Q: OK, what is Pulse!?
A: Pulse! is the magazine published by Tower Records/Video and made available free in the stores. Since 1983, Pulse! has covered the whole range of music, from rock to rap to jazz to classical to folk to contemporary instrumental to world music and beyond, and it's published 11 times a year.

Q: What does "musically omnivorous" mean?
A: It means we're as likely to interview modern-day country outlaw Steve Earle as we are African pop progenitor King Sunny Ade, or as likely to rhapsodize about the latest ambient-techno 12" from Plug as we are about a complete set of Liszt's Beethoven transcriptions. "Musically omnivorous" means we're as likely to give away Ennio Morricone soundtracks as we are the new Cassandra Wilson CD.

Q: Did you say free CDs?
A: Sure, and books and videos, too. Every issue of epulse has a trivia contest and we usually give away two items a week, though sometimes more.

Q: Why isn't there a separate classical-only version of epulse?
A: We get this one all the time. The answer is: because we're musically omnivorous (see above).

Q: Are you going to sell my email address to an advertiser?
A: Nope, though it's possible that epulse will run advertising.

Q: Will you print my email?
A: Sure, we "print" letters from subscribers every issue. Warning: We'll run your email address, too, unless you ask us not to.

Q: And this is all free, right?
A: Yes, free.
