AGAPETUS I, pope from 535 to 536.

He collaborated with Cassiodorus? in founding at Rome a library of ecclesiastical authors in Greek and Latin, and helped Cassiodorus with the project at Vivarium? of translation from Greek into Latin of standard philosophers.

King Theodahad? of the Ostrogoths sent him on an embassy to Constantinople, where he died, after having deposed Anthimus, the Monophysite? patriarch of that town, and ordained Menas his successor.
