Cover Art The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Let's Face It
[Big Rig/Mercury]
Rating: 7.6

You know 'em by now. Dicky Barrett's bulldog-rough vocals over a pleasantly horny brass section, guitar cuting deeper than most, bass twanging. I guess it's ska-"core" now instead of just "ska" because they let the angry guys play guitar.

Honestly, after just having reviewed Goldfinger's Hang Ups and Reel Big Fish's Turn The Radio Off, I'd have to go with Goldfinger. This Bosstones CD is pretty standard fare for them, with a few surprises like the morose "Another Drinkin' Song" and the soon- to- be- Jock- Jam "The Impression That I Get." The Bosstones are letting their instruments shine thru more than usual, along with some bells and whistles. If you live in Florida and it's not raining there, it'd be perfect to pop into the CD player while sipping Margaritas with a few friends, but it's not exactly groundshaking. A fresh dose of urgency. Toe-tappers. Beer-drinkers. Rump-shakers. Take the umbrella out of yer drink and chug, boy!
