It's never a good sign when you're a band without a real drummer. By the packaging on this album, you'd think STT were a trio instead of their old quartet, and you'd be right. The drummer, however, is not one of these men.

I've always admired Shudder to Think (and if you don't own their Get Your Goat album, something is wrong with you). This time out, there's a lot of magic missing. They went back and remade their old "hit" "Red House," which is a good song, but I'd never realized it owed a big debt to Journey There's barely enough of a math rock edge to keep geeks happy, and there's also a profound lack of passion in Craig Werden's mighty voice. He's doing a post-modern Neil Diamond thing on "The Saddest Day of My Life." I never thought that this band would sound so freakin' normal. I guess that explains the title: In 50,000 B.C., this shit would have ruled.
