Parliamentary debate interrupted when toddler's cuddly toy hits MP |
A New Zealand parliamentary debate was interrupted when an MP was hit by a cuddly toy.
The toy dog named Rolo accidentally slipped from the grasp of a toddler in the public gallery.
Police and security guards jumped to their feet, then realised the flying object was a harmless toy.
The puppy hit Act Party MP Owen Jennings on the shoulder. He waved it in the air to roars of laughter from fellow MPs.
Finance minister Michael Cullen told the House the boy may have been aiming at baby-faced opposition MP Rodney Hide after confusing him as one of his siblings, The New Zealand Herald reports.
