Court extends deadline for Microsoft's antitrust case |
The US District Court overseeing Microsoft's antitrust case has extended Friday's deadline for court submissions.
Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly has given both Microsoft and the government an extra four days to submit reports detailing how they would like the case to proceed.
According to SiliconValley.com, no official reason was given for the delay, although both sides had asked for more time following Tuesday's tragedy.
The decision comes after Microsoft repeated its aim to persuade the Supreme Court to take the case.
It argues that the original judge had displayed bias in recommending that the company be split in two.
The Supreme Court won't decide whether to take the case until October at the earliest, when the court returns from recess.
In the meantime the District Court will continue its deliberations. Although the Justice Department has withdrawn its support for the company being split in two, it wants the District Court to set an alternative penalty.
