Clinton and Dole spearhead scholarship drive for victims' families |
Former US president Bill Clinton and ex-senator Bob Dole are teaming up to help the bereaved relatives of the US terror attacks.
They are joining together to help raise $100 million (£65 million) in scholarships for the children and spouses of victims.
Clinton and Dole are to announce they will be co-chairmen of the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund.
The fund has been created by the Indianapolis-based Lumina Foundation for Education.
The scholarships will be offered in partnership with the Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of America.
Lumina has pledged $2 million (£1.3 million) outright and another $1 million (£670,000) in matching funds to encourage individual donations.
The organisation also hopes to raise money from corporations and other groups.
Clinton defeated Dole, the former Senate majority leader, in the 1996 presidential election.
