Student held under terror law released |
A 44-year-old man arrested in Birmingham last week under the Prevention of Terrorism Act has been released from custody without charge.
The student, previously named as Abu Imard, was released after a week of questioning, a spokeswoman said.
Anti-terrorist officers had held Imard for the maximum time permitted under the Act after successfully applying to magistrates for two extensions.
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said he will face no charges and is not on police bail.
His release comes as another man arrested on the same day appeared at Bow Street magistrates court in London after being re-arrested on an international warrant at the request of the United States authorities.
The court was told that Lotfi Raissi, 27, of Colnbrook, Berkshire, had been the flight instructor for four of the suicide hijackers who carried out the terrorist atrocities in the United States on September 11.
