Britney Spears is said to have been too distressed to talk about the US terrorist attacks when she arrived in Australia.

Reports suggest the singer was unaware of what had happened earlier in New York and Washington until she touched down in Sydney.

Britney, whose brother reportedly lives in New York, is in Australia to film a TV special.

A posting on the WorldofBritney.com website reports: "Britney has arrived safely in Sydney. She had no idea of what had happened in New York (where her brother lives) until the plane landed in Sydney.

"She was too distressed to talk to any media, instead rushing to her awaiting car and going to her hotel. No announcement has yet been made as to whether the tour ­ which includes filming a TV special ­ will go ahead as planned."
