Hugh Grant is reported to have pulled out of the second Harry Potter film.

Grant was expected to play the role of Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets but he is thought to have decided not to appear due to filming commitments.

According to www.teletext.co.uk, Warner Brothers would have had to bring the production forward three months to allow him to take part.

It's believed that Grant had undergone a number of make-up tests for the role of the wizard and had even dyed his hair blond to avoid wearing a wig.

Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone is released in the UK on November 16.
