London Stock Exchange confirms approach to Liffe |
The London Stock Exchange has confirmed it has made an approach regarding a possible offer for Liffe.
The LSE says a further announcement will be made in due course.
Liffe - the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange - says it has received a number of approaches.
It says it will be sitting down with its adviser Credit Suisse First Boston to evaluate these proposals.
Chairman Sir Brian Williamson says Liffe's Connect technology is increasingly in demand by other organisations around the world.
And he says Liffe's recent interim results demonstrate the exchange's continued financial success.
"We are not surprised to have received a number of approaches," Sir Brian adds.
"We will, therefore, review each approach to see if it can maximise value for our shareholders."
