Radiohead to Release Live Album
"Selway Comes Alive!" rejected as possible title

Brandon Dameshek reports:
Has Radiohead become so prolific that they feel a need to release a third full-length album in two years? Well, not exactly. But according to sources at Capitol Records, Radiohead will release a live CD containing eight tracks (including the never-before-released "True Love Waits," a song originally written around the time OK Computer was released) from their recent North American tour on November 13th. The selected songs were hand-picked from different shows, and presumably in an effort to avoid having to pay royalties to the venues, none of the dates will be listed.

Despite the fact that the new release contains only eight songs, the as-yet-untitled live album will be sold as a full-length CD, and not as an EP. But hey, Godspeed You Black Emperor! only put four tracks on their last release, and it was a double album, so quit your bitching. Tracklist:

01 The National Anthem
02 I Might Be Wrong
03 Morning Bell
04 Like Spinning Plates
05 Idioteque
06 Everything in Its Right Place
07 Dollars and Cents
08 True Love Waits

Fridge Ready to Embark on US Tour
Roadies infuriated by "all the goddamn lifting"

Philip Raffaele reports:
According to Temporary Residence, the electronic band Fridge will be setting out for a US tour in support of their new record, Happiness. The album will be released in the UK on frontman Kieran Hebden's own Text Records label, and in the US as a co-release by Brainwashed and Temporary Residence. Running parallel is the domestic release of Hebden's sophomore effort as Four Tet, entitled Pause, which is being released by Domino Records. We at Pitchfork glowingly endorse both these records, which are brilliant. Seriously!

Though Hebden's been busy recording the new Fridge album, finishing the Four Tet LP, and remixing everyone from Regular Fries to Aphex Twin, he still shows up at nightclubs throughout London either spinning hip-hop or speed garage until the wee hours of the morning.

Fridge started their recording career on Trevor Jackson's Output label with Ceefax and Semaphore, along with a number of 7"s and 12"s, which were re-released as a double CD a few years ago appropriately titled Sevens and Twelves. They then moved on to Go! Beat for their third full-length, Eph, and two EPs. For god's sake, go see them, already.

Kid606 Hits the Road with Buttholes
Immaturity levels hit all-time high

Philip Raffaele reports:
According to Ipecac, the label headed by Mr. Bungle/Faith No More frontman Mike Patton and Greg Werckman, contemporary IDM glitch-hop hero Kid606 will inexplicably be hitting the road with has-been zeroes the Butthole Surfers for a sprawling tour across North America. Ipecac, which is a drug used to induce vomiting, released Kid606's Down with the Scene LP to massive critical acclaim. The intensity of acts should make for an interesting spectacle.

Ipecac, actually a rather fine label, describes themselves as an "honest, artist-friendly label run on a shoe string with no outrageous promotional or production costs." They are honorably releasing music they want to hear, as well as being a vehicle for Mike Patton's musical explorations with Mr. Bungle and Fantômas. Besides Patton himself, the label's roster is home to a wide variety of artists, from dark hip-hop guru Sensational to rocking maniacs the Melvins.

Of course, Kid606 has his own label, the excellent Tigerbeat6, which has been heralded as bringing the Next Wave of IDM-- especially in our review of the Tigerbeat6, Inc. compilation. We are not shitting you; it is godly.

The Rapture is Nigh
Expect numerous accidents related to unmanned vehicles

Michael A. Cavagnaro reports:
Pre-millenial dispensationalists and fans of Left Behind will be happy to know that the Rapture is coming to a town near them, and soon. However, once they realize that it's swarthy Manhattanites Luke Jenner, Matty Safer, and Vito Roccoforte of the art-punk band the Rapture, and not their Lord and Savior, they are expected to riot and break things.

The Rapture's assault on your senses might send you reeling at first, but there's something about those stop/start dynamics and the primal screeching of the vocals and guitars that sounds heavenly. Maybe those apocalypticists are onto something, after all. The tour, already in progress, began in Pittsburgh and will continue through October, ending with a double-date engagement back in the Big Apple. Dates:

09-24 Minneapolis, MN - 7th Street Entry
09-25 Omaha, NE - The Junction
09-26 Kansas City, MO - El Torrean
09-28 Denver, CO - 15th Street Tavern
