The Strokes omit 'inappropriate' LP track for US release

The Strokes have removed a track on their debut LP Is This It for the US release.

The lyrics for New York City Cops were deemed inappropriate following the US terrorist attacks.

They feature the words 'New York City cops, they ain't too smart'.

A spokesperson for the band told dotmusic: "It's not an anti-cop song, it's a third person narrative about a girl escaping the police".

But added: "There is a sensitivity toward what's going on, and the band doesn't feel it's appropriate."

New York City Cops will be replaced by new track When It Started for the US release on October 9.
