Bin Laden 'ready to stand trial if US has evidence' |
An Afghan diplomat has claimed Osama bin Laden is ready to stand trial if the US can provide evidence of his involvement in the terror attacks.
The Taliban's deputy ambassador in Islamabad says bin Laden is prepared to face trial in a Muslim country.
Suhail Shaheen says bin Laden has denied responsibility for the attacks.
The US and the UK have named bin Laden as the prime suspect behind the terror attacks on New York and Washington.
Shaheen quoted bin Laden as saying "I am not involved. If they have evidence, I am ready" to stand trial.
Shaheen says the US hasn't provided evidence of bin Laden's involvement.
He claims America's ambition is to undermine the Islamic system established by the Taliban in Afghanistan, India's Mid-Day newspaper reports.
