Roger Taylor has set his sights on one of Great Britain's greatest ever Davis Cup wins. Britain's captain was speaking on the eve of the tie against Ecuador in Guayaquil. His team must win the tie to return to the World Group. "If we can pull it off, it will be one of the greatest wins certainly in my tennis career," said Taylor. "This is a very important tie. They are potentially a very strong team but if you want to get in the World Group you have got to get through these difficult away matches where the conditions are not in our favour. "The crowd is going to be right on top of us and it is going to be very hard for the referee to control them. "It is going to be an incredible atmosphere. If we can get through this I think it will give us great confidence." In Nicolas Lapentti, against whom Greg Rusedski kicks off the tie on Friday, Britain not only come up against a man whom Taylor rates among the world's top six on clay, but one who holds an unbeaten eight-match record in Davis Cup singles matches in his home country. Rusedski admitted: "He has a very good record but I've done my research and spoken to some of the guys who have previously played him here. "I think in the first match we can just try to sneak it and even if we can't win it, just push him very hard out there. He is bound to lose one some day."
