Queen Mum braves showers to go to church |
The Queen Mother has joined the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh for the traditional Sunday church service at Balmoral.
Despite the occasional heavy showers, the Queen Mother turned up for the service dressed in dark blue and a matching hat.
She climbed out of her black Daimler limousine and climbed unassisted up the short flight of steps into the church.
She smiled as she climbed the steps holding a walking stick in her left hand and clutching the stair rail with her right hand.
Two minutes after her arrival, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh arrived at Crathie Kirk to the delight of the crowd of around 60 onlookers.
The Queen also wore a dark blue outfit with matching hat, while the Duke of Edinburgh was dressed in a beige kilt and jacket for the service at the small granite church a short drive from Balmoral.
No other members of the Royal family attended the service which, was expected to include some reference to the recent terrorist attacks in the United States.
