A man has been sentenced to three hours of silence for blasting his car stereo in front of a police officer in Ohio. A judge gave him a choice of going to jail for two days or spending three hours on his own in some woods after he was convicted of disorderly conduct. He was taken from his Plainesville home to a parkland forest 25 miles north east of Cleveland by a park ranger. Kenyata Reid was picked up and taken home after his sentence was complete. Municipal Judge Michael Cicconetti explains: "I asked Kenyata if he has ever spent time in the woods alone. He said he had not. He's not a bad kid. I realised that he like lots of city kids, only knows asphalt and concrete." Mr Reid, who's 22, says: "I thought I was never going to get out of there. But I got the message. I will be careful about keeping the music down from now on." Story filed: 14:12 Thursday 20th September 2001
