Bankies go top after victory |
Clydebank moved back to the top of Division Two after a dramatic stoppage-time goal from Eric Paton gave them a 3-2 victory at home to Cowdenbeath.
With three minutes of stoppage time already played, Paton leaped above the visitors' defence to power a header into the net and seal three points.
Despite Clydebank's early dominance, the Fifers took the lead when Fabian Bossy needlessly pulled back Keith Wilson inside the penalty area and David White scored from the spot-kick.
But the home side were awarded a penalty themselves four minutes before half-time when Jim Dick hacked down Steve Swift.
Alex Burke swept the ball into the net from the spot.
The Bankies should have gone ahead in the final seconds of the first half when Dick was again sent tumbling inside the penalty area by White, but goalkeeper Craig Gordon produced a brilliant block to deny Burke a second goal.
However, Clydebank took a deserved lead after 67 minutes when Barry Lavety met a corner from the right to head the ball home.
Cowdenbeath looked to have snatched a point when the referee awarded another penalty after Mark McNally's handball and White again made no mistake from 12 yards - but Paton had the final say.
