Tesco's withdraws tainted almond fingers

Retail giant Tesco has withdrawn its own-brand almond fingers from sale after discovering some were contaminated with glass.

Customers who have already bought almond fingers, sold in packets of six, are being warned that they could pose a health risk.

All packets with the 01235, 01236 and 01237 batch numbers have been withdrawn from sale. A full refund will be given to all customers returning the products.

John Longworth, Tesco trading law and technical director, said: "Safety is our top priority and we are working urgently with or supplier to investigate the cause of the contamination.

"This is an isolated incident and we have acted immediately. We apologise to customers for any inconvenience."
