Nasa 'won't be stopped' pledges chief

Nasa chief Dan Goldin has told his staff the attacks on the US will not stop the space agency's work.

Its headquarters in Washington and centres across the country have now reopened under heightened security.

Goldin's pledge came despite the cancellation of at least one satellite launch in recent days.

The Kodiak Star launch from Alaska was delayed due to travel interruptions brought about by the attacks.

But Goldin assured employees the terrorist attacks had not slowed the work of the space agency, reports CNN.

He said: "This has been a very difficult time for all of us. We have witnessed a senseless tragedy of monumental proportions.

"Throughout these terrible days, Nasa's work has continued. The International Space Station still is in orbit. Research continues. Telescopes continue to send us remarkable data."

But he warned his employees all Nasa installations could be the targets of any future attacks, saying: "We cannot forget that there's still potential for further violence. It may not be over yet."
