Bibit Joins Deutsche Bank In Supporting eCash Technologies' Monneta Suite of Payments

Seattle, January 03, 2001 – eCash Technologies has made additional inroads in Germany, announcing that leading European payment service provider Bibit Internet Payments is using eCash Technologies' software to enable bank-account-based payments over the Internet for its 900 merchant customers.

Initially, Bibit is working with Deutsche Bank to further speed merchant and consumer adoption in Germany. The bank, as well as its subsidiary, Deutsche Bank 24, already serves leading merchants who accept bank-account-based payments under the eCash™ brand. These payments are a secure, private and easy-to-use option developed by eCash Technologies. Like other products in eCash Technologies' Monneta suite of products, they assure good funds to merchants. Another benefit: These bank-account-based payments offer customers a solution with superior security and privacy features for paying online merchants. These attributes resonate well with European consumers, many of whom hesitate to use their credit cards on the Internet.

Calling eCash Technologies' products a "win-win" solution for merchants and European customers, John Caspers, Bibit's vice president of product development, said: "eCash Technologies is the best of what is and what is to come. We believe the company has the best solution for making electronic cash payments on the Internet, and we are glad to cooperate with Deutsche Bank and eCash Technologies to support this payment method for our merchants. It provides significant benefits for our merchants, and furthers our vision of facilitating commerce globally."

Deutsche Bank became the first bank in Germany to offer bank-account-based payments under the eCash brand. In addition to new features shown at CeBIT 2001, Deutsche Bank will spotlight the Internet payment service's person-to-person (P2P) functionality. Deutsche Bank 24 currently provides access to payments enabled by eCash Technologies' payment engine free of charge to all banked households in Germany.

"I am happy to announce a partnership with one of the driving forces in European ecommerce. Bibit takes away the barriers and lowers the threshold for participation by merchants in the electronic economy," David Watson, vice president of business development at eCash Technologies, said. "By adding eCash Technologies' bank-account-based solution to its product line, Bibit makes it simple, safe and secure to accept payments online."
