Yeah, well, October Sky wasn’t released in October, either. Anyway, in this remake of the 1968 Sandy Dennis dramedy, Sara Deever (Theron) takes in a different man each month in order to help heal his emotional wounds. The man of the titular month, Nelson Moss (Reeves), falls hard for her but eventually discovers the sad secret behind her brief romances. Interestingly, Theron, who worked with Reeves on The Devil’s Advocate, chose this quiet, bittersweet role over the heroine part in the upcoming epic Pearl Harbor.
