MEDIAMAZING.COM TAKES NUMBER ONE SPOT IN MEASURECAST TOP 25 INTERNET RADIO STATIONS LIST

Britain's Virgin Radio Debuts in Number Three Position

PORTLAND, Ore. March 13, 2001 - MeasureCast, Inc., the first company to provide Internet radio broadcasters with next-day audience size and demographics reports, announced today that Internet-only broadcaster MEDIAmazing.com took the number one spot in MeasureCast's list of top 25 Internet radio broadcasters for the week of March 5-March 11. This marks the first time since MeasureCast began issuing rankings in December 2000 that New York talk radio station WABC did not finish the week in first place--it took second.

Total time spent listening (TTSL) to MEDIAmazing.com rose 23 percent over the previous week, and its Cume (An estimate of the total number of unique listeners who had one or more listening sessions lasting five minutes or longer) jumped 24 percent. Among the 24 comparable stations in the Top 25 list, 10 experienced an increase in TTSL, with overall TTSL for the top 24 dropping 4.2 percent for the week. Cume for the top 24 rose 2.6 percent over the previous week (Virgin Radio was excluded as it did not appear on the list the previous week).

London-based Virgin Radio made its MeasureCast Top 25™ debut with its adult alternative station winning the number three slot in the weekly ranking.

Other facts for the week of March 5-March 11:

  • The peak listening day was Wednesday, with 19% of all TTSL occurring on this day.

  • Listening on Saturday and Sunday accounted for 10% of all TTSL.
