4/2/2001: Crisis Or Gimmick?
Energy Secretary Abraham says the United States is facing some critical shortages that could lead to an energy crisis by Summer. California is continuing to run on very short electricity margins, and New York City is apprently in the same boat. And gasoline prices, particularly in parts of the Midwest, are heading back up again.

How would you characterize America's energy situation?

3/29/2001: Medical Marijuana
The Supreme Court heard arguments this week on whether marijuana ought to be allowed as a prescription medical treatment for some illnesses. A 1970 federal law makes this illegal. But patients' lawyers are arguing that "medical necessity" ought to trump federal law.

Should doctors be able to prescribe marijuana as a treatment for illness?

3/27/2001: Time To Drop Anchor?
Reports say at the age of 69, Dan Rather may be ready to relinquish the anchor chair of the CBS Evening News. Among the names being floated to replace him: CBS White House correspondent John Roberts, ABC's Diane Sawyer, and NBC's Tim Russert.

Senator Joe Lieberman (D-Connecticut) is pushing a short term tax cut alternative to President Bush's $1.6 trillion ten year plan. He's suggesting a $300 one-time giveback to nearly every taxpayer, as a quick stimulous to the economy.

3/24/2001: Maryland is Minneapolis Bound
The Terps are headed to the Final 4 for the first time in school-history after their 87 to 73 win over Stanford in the West Regional. Now Gary Williams takes his Terrapins to the Metrodome in Minneapolis in search of a national championship. Maryland faces Duke on Saturday in the semifinals on WMAL. It'll be the fourth meeting of the season between the Terps & Blue Devils.

3/22/2001: The Terps Are One Win Away From The Final Four
Thanks to their 76-66 win over Georgetown in the Sweet 16, Maryland advances to the Elite 8 for the first time in 26 years. Gary Williams goes to his first regional semifinal in his 23-year coaching career. The red hot Terps have won 9 out of their last 10 games. Saturday they face #1 Stanford at the Pond in Anaheim. Maryland and Georgetown both won their second round West Regional games on Sunday in Boise to set-up a Sweet 16 NCAA tournament match-up between the two Washington-area schools on Thursday night (at 7pm on WMAL) in Anaheim.
