Exclusive News - P J Harvey Confirms 'The Big Day Out' Festival
P J Harvey has just confirmed that she will be joining the line-up for the 2001 Big Day Out Festival in Australia. This will be Harvey's first ever trip to Australia & New Zealand and will mark the start of her world tour in support of the forthcoming album. The festival kicks off in Auckland on January 19th and runs through until February 4th. The full list of dates is as follows:

PJ Harvey: New Album

PJ Harvey's sixth album, entitled 'Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea' will be released by Universal-Island Records on October 23rd.

The album features 12 new tracks, all written by PJ Harvey. The title reflects the dual inspirations for the album, which was written throughout last year in New York and Dorset, with the contrasting metropolitan and rural settings influencing her material. Guest vocalist Thom Yorke duets on 'This Mess We're In', a track Harvey wrote specifically with him in mind. He provides backing vocals on two further tracks.

All 12 tracks on 'Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea' are performed and produced by PJ Harvey, Rob Ellis and Mick Harvey. It was recorded by Head at Great Linford Manor* and mixed by Victor Van Vugt at The Fallout Shelter **

Exclusive News - Title Decided On For New Album:

News just in ... the forthcoming album by P J Harvey is to be called 'Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea'. The album is rumored to feature 12 new tracks, all produced by Polly Harvey, Rob Ellis & Mick Harvey- we hope to have song titles soon.

Plans For P J Harvey To Contribute To Next Sparklehorse Album:
P J Harvey is hoping to hook-up with Sparklehorse in Barcelona during the summer to lend some vocals & instrumentation to their next album. The idea apparently came about when both Sparklehorse & P J Harvey recently read an unfounded rumor in the music press that she was featured on a track for their next album, this led to herself and band member, Mark Linkous, actually talking about the idea and deciding to go-ahead! No release date has yet been set for the album....

P J Harvey is set to produce the debut album of New York singer/songwriter Tiffany Anders. Daughter of film director, Alison Anders, Polly met Tiffany whilst living in New York and was taken in by her music. The project is set to commence in July in a New York studio, no release date has yet been set. This is Polly's first real foray into album production, outside of her own material. We hear that recording of the new album has been going extremely well and is coming close to completion. We've also heard that there may just be some truth to the recent rumor that Thom Yorke joined

Exclusive images of P J Harvey will form part of a forthcoming exhibition by critically acclaimed photographer Rankin. The exhibition, which is titled 'CELEBRITATION' , opens at the Proud Gallery in London on May 25th, running through until June 2nd. The images will also be published in a book of the same name which is due for release later in the year. The exhibition hopes to capture the essence of various celebrities when they are relaxed, as opposed to posing, in front of the camera, showing themselves as they really are. Other featured artists include Thom Yorke, Tricky, REM, Damien Hirst, Beck and Blur amongst others.

America's only national hotline for victims of sexual assault, will be holding a massive on-line auction in June, featuring memorabilia donated by musicians and bands internationally. Word has it that the new ABC prime-time drama "Wonderland" will feature music by P J Harvey from the Is This Desire? album. This apparently came about as P J Harvey's co-star in Hal Hartley's Book Of Life, Martin Donovan, is one of the leading characters in "Wonderland". Donovan plays a psychiatrist specializing in the criminal mind, who's character is also a P J Harvey fan!. The show is due to air every Thursday, starting this month on ABC.

Harvey is heading into the studio with long-time collaborators, Mick Harvey (The Bad Seeds) & Rob Ellis (from the original P J Harvey line-up) to begin work on her follow-up album to 1998's critically acclaimed album 'Is This Desire?'. 28th December 1999 - PJ Harvey will be appearing in Hal Harley's 'Book of Life' this coming New Year's Eve on BBC 2 at 12:55am. The 1998 movie is PJ's first full length feature film and also stars Martin Donovan.

8th November 1999 - 'P J Harvey to perform on CH 4's 'Music Of The Millennium'

P J Harvey is set to perform a Bob Dylan song on the Music Of The Millennium special. This three hour special is the climax of the world's biggest survey of music opinion ever taken. The show will feature live performances, celebrity panel discussions and will announce the results of the poll, as voted for by over one million people.

The show transmits on British CH4 on November 13th between 9pm & 12am.

P J Harvey Track Featured On The 'Brokedown Palace' Movie Soundtrack.

PJ Harvey's 'The Wind' appears on the soundtrack and accompanying album to the movie 'Brokedown Palace' . The movie, which features Clare Danes & Kate Beckinsale, is a harrowing and cautionary tale that depicts the dangers that confronts two young Americans whilst on holiday in southeast Asia, where they are duped into smuggling heroin and sentenced to 33 years in one of Bangkok's most hideous prisons, the 'Brokedown Palace'. Other artists on the soundtrack album include Audioweb, Solar Twins, Tricky, David Newman, Leonard's Bride, Moist, Asian Dub Foundation & Delerium. The album is due for release in the U.S. on August 13th and everywhere else on August 10th

PJ Harvey announces second Irish date

Due to public demand a second PJ Harvey date has been announced for Dublin's Olympia Theatre, Friday 18th December. Tickets will go on sale this Saturday from all usual outlets.

The European leg of the tour starts in Milan on November 23rd and culminates with the final shows in Dublin 17th and 18th December.

Harvey, who has just completed a 'sold-out' American tour, will be backed by multi- intrumentalist and Captain Beefheart and Pixies band member Eric Drew Feldman, Dance Hall at Louse Point collaborator John Parish (guitar), long standing band mate, drummer Rob Ellis and bass player Jeremy Hogg who also featured on Dance Hall at Louse Point.

'Is This Desire?', the fifth PJ Harvey album featuring the single 'A Perfect Day Elise' was released by Island Records in September.

NORTH AMERICAN TOUR BEGINS OCTOBER 20th IN SEATTLE

P J Harvey will begin three weeks of North American concert dates on October 20 at Seattle’s Show Box. These shows are the first P J Harvey performances here since 1995. P J Harvey’s fifth album ‘Is This Desire?’ will be released by Island Records September 29.
P J Harvey finished a month-long tour of European festivals August 31.
In reviewing one show, Melody Maker wrote that ‘P J Harvey provides the day’s ragingly loudest and chillingly quietest noises via new songs that rock their hard-as-nails blues in fiendish 7/4 time’. On this tour, Harvey will play guitar, and will be backed by Eric Drew Feldman (multi-instrumentalist and former Captain Beefheart, Pere Ubu and Pixies band member), John Parish (guitarist and collaborator with Harvey on the 1996 album ‘Dance Hall at Louse Point’), Rob Ellis (drummer and long-standing Harvey cohort), and Jeremy Hogg (slide-guitarist who was in Harvey’s touring ensemble for the ‘Dance Hall at Louse Point’ dates).
