Ray Dunlap

Motorsports commentator

Ray Dunlap joined ESPN in 1997 and handles a variety of duties on motorsports telecasts. He serves as a reporter on NASCAR 2Day, the officially licensed NASCAR Winston Cup pre-race show before all series events. He also appears on NASCAR Busch Series telecasts (as host or pit reporter), ARCA races (analyst) and select NASCAR Winston Cup events (pit reporter). In addition, in 1997 he hosted On the Pole, a fishing show with race car drivers as guests.

After just one year with ESPN, Dunlap was honored by the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club as the 1997 Motorsports Electronic Media Personality of the Year.

He previously served as the Public Relations Director at ARCA (Automobile Club of America), having joined the organization in 1991 as Media Relations Director. He continues to operate a video production company, Red Line Productions of Charlotte. He founded the company in Columbus, Ohio, in 1987, shooting commercials and local races. At the same time, he launched his own local access television show, At the Speedway. His work at local speedways led to his appointment at ARCA.

A native of Carrollton, Ohio, Dunlap was graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1987 with a bachelor of arts degree in radio/TV/film. Born December 23, 1964, he and his wife reside in the Charlotte area.
