Busch North Series, NASCAR Touring Quick Facts Facts | Schedule | Drivers | Results | Standings | News The Series: The Busch North Series experienced its greatest change in 1987. Anheuser-Busch, Inc., through its Busch brand and NASCAR returned to the Northeast with a revised version of the NASCAR North Tour that ran from 1979 through 1985. Since then, the series has become one of the fastest-growing and most-competitive racing series in the country. In 1999 the series experienced tremendous growth as Brad Leighton of Center Harbor, N.H., raced to the series crown. In NASCAR 2000 the series will compete alongside all of NASCAR's three national series placing them in the spotlight to experience more exposure.
Busch North Series events are open to eligible models of 1997-2000 American-made, steel-bodied production passenger sedans. A Busch North Series car is identical to a NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division car with only a few exceptions. Both cars use V-8 engines but a NASCAR Busch Series car must weigh at least 3,300 pounds while a Busch North Series car weighs 3,100 pounds.
