ESPN.com selected 12 moments from recent Summer Olympics that today still evoke feelings of joy, nostalgia and sadness. Then our users had a chance to share their own Olympic memories.

The U.S. boxing team, which arrived in Sydney hoping to reverse its recent Olympic fortunes, wound up without a single gold medal for the first time since London in 1948.

Armenian lifter Ashot Danielyan was stripped of his bronze medal after a positive test for the steroid nandrolone, becoming the fourth weightlifter to test positive in the Summer Games.

U.S. women's basketball has now won the last two Olympic golds and the 1998 world championships. Australia's silver medal marked the nation's highest finish ever in women's basketball.

The Sydney Olympics drew to a close after 17 days, and were donned the "best ever" by IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch. The U.S. led the medal count with 97 medals, 39 of which were gold.
