Heat puts enormous stress on cut grass, which is the reason many courses keep their greens well watered and on the long side in summer. But with the return of fall comes the return of super-fast, closely mown putting surfaces. This can prove hazardous both to your stroke and your score after weeks of rolling the ball on shaggier carpets.

If your golf season is winding down, it's the perfect time to look closely at your game.
