Ziege recalled to German squad
By Sebastian Meyer-Kooring

OBERHAUSEN, Germany, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Germany coach Rudi Voeller has recalled Liverpool wing-back Christian Ziege to his 20-man squad for the World Cup qualifier against England at Wembley.

Ziege returns for the first time since Germany's early Euro 2000 exit, and should replace Borussia Dortmund's injured Joerg Heinrich in the starting team for the match, which takes place on October 7 and is the last to take place at Wembley before the stadium is rebuilt.

'This is not just a game about three points. This is a classic - a highlight for all participants to be there for the last game in this legendary stadium,' Voeller said.

Assistant coach Michael Skibbe added: 'I hope we will give the English a good reason to tear down the stadium - because they will have failed to win against us once again.'

Captain Oliver Bierhof is also in the line-up. He was left on the bench for the match against Greece, but looks set to replace injured Bayern Munich striker Alexander Zickler, who scored twice in Germany's 4-1 friendly defeat of Spain last month.

The only newcomer to the side is Hamburg SV's 20-year-old defender Ingo Hertzsch. Fellow youngster, Hertha Berlin midfielder Sebastian Deisler, is retained in the squad after the 20-year-old scored his first goal for Germany against Greece.

The full squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Oliver Kahn (Bayern Munich), Jens Lehmann (Borussia Dortmund). Defenders: Frank Baumann (Werder Bremen), Ingo Hertzsch (Hamburg SV), Thomas Linke (Bayern Munich), Jens Nowotny (Bayer Leverkusen), Marko Rehmer (Hertha Berlin). Midfielders: Michael Ballack (Bayer Leverkusen), Stefan Beinlich, Sebastian Deisler (both Hertha Berlin), Dietmar Hamann (Liverpool), Carsten Ramelow (Bayer Leverkusen), Mehmet Scholl (Bayern Munich), Dariusz Wosz (Hertha Berlin), Christian Ziege (Liverpool). Strikers: Oliver Bierhoff (AC Milan), Marco Bode (Werder Bremen), Carsten Jancker (Bayern Munich), Oliver Neuville, Paulo Rink (both Bayer Leverkusen)
