Trio named to Golf Coaches Hall of Fame

DELAWARE, Ohio -- Doug Gordin of Florida Southern, Wally Goodwin of Stanford, and Richard Sykes of North Carolina State have been named to the Golf Coaches Hall of Fame.

Gordin has coached five seasons at Florida Southern and has four NCAA Division II championships. He previously coached 13 years at Georgia Southern.

Goodwin coached at both Northwestern and Stanford. His 1994 Stanford team won the Division I NCAA Championship.

Sykes has spent his entire coaching career, 29 years, at North Carolina State. His teams have won 46 tournaments, including an ACC title and an NCAA regional championship. His teams also have had two top-10 finishes in the NCAA championship.

The three coaches will be formally inducted on Jan. 25, 2001, at an awards banquet in Orlando, Fla. They were chosen by a vote of their peers who serve on the national selection committee.
