points race heads to Lone Star state
The Formula One circus
has been to Indy and done that, and hardly a ripple from the U.S. motor sports
community was felt. Granted, 250,000 watched, but Michael Schumacher's victory
was appreciated by a minority of U.S. fans who find Formula One racing of interest.
But as ABC's Jack Arute writes, CART's upcoming stop this Sunday at Houston for
the Texaco/Havoline Grand Prix (ABC, 4 p.m. ET) will
certainly command more interest.

Wide World Classic: Wilma Rudolph
The Summer Olympics have
officially started and ABC Sports Online decided to look back at some of the amateur
athletes that have shaped sports history. ABC's
Wide World of Sports coverage of the USA-USSR Track and Field Meet on July 22,
1961, marked the first telecast from Europe handled exclusively by American personnel.
This event showcased the legendary Wilma Rudolph and is the subject of this
week's Wide World Classic. | |
