Huckleberry
Hound was the first true star to emerge from Hanna-Barbera Productions.
The noble hearted, slow moving, blue bloodhound starred in and hosted "The
Huckleberry Hound Show" beginning in 1958. The series also featured segments
of "Pixie and Dixie," "Yogi Bear," and (replacing Yogi in 1960) "Hokey
Wolf." The series was sponsored by Kellogg's cereals and syndicated by
Screen Gems. Daws Butler supplied Huck's amazing voice. In 1960, "The Huckleberry
Hound Show" won the first Emmy Award ever given to an animated program.
