As interest in MP3 and digital music keeps climbing, competition is beginning in the musical desktop market. Records and CDs in local diners and bars are being replaced by digital music jukeboxes. All-in-one applications are the latest trend, with products that include music players, streaming software, CD rippers, and CD-burning software. Even Microsoft has joined the throng, announcing last week that it is developing a digital jukebox that will be all things to all users. What are the folks in Redmond up against?
