Media Enforcer

What do you do if your band just wrote the next big hit, and before you even have a chance to pitch it to the record companies, it's already on Napster? Well, no need to hire NetPD, the self-proclaimed "police of copyright infringement," to find all those greedy music users downloading your songs. Now you can do it yourself!

Media Enforcer, a new anonymously written freeware program, will do just the trick. Download the new version 1.0 a4 from Media Enforcer, and you too can make a media spectacle at the Napster offices with a list of names, IP addresses, song titles, and time violations of all your copyright infringes.

According to the web site, the need for this application now exists in order to save the entertainment industry. Not only do artists need the royalties from music sales, but producers and engineers do as well. This program is intended to keep music piracy "under control."

After you download and uncompress the Media Enforcer, just run the program and enter your band's name or a song title. Decide if you want to search Napster, Gnutella, or both, and then determine the length of time you want to investigate pirates. (Support for Scour, CuteMX, and iMesh is on the way.) Within seconds you can have thousands of names (depending on the popularity of your tracks, of course), which can be exported to a .csv spreadsheet file, ready to print and deliver.

Of course, just like Napster and Gnutella, this anti-piracy software can be used for piracy means as well (it too locates MP3s on other people's computers). To prevent this, it is necessary to first e-mail the author a short description of who you are and what you intend to do with the program. After they evaluate your request, you will receive a free and complete copy of the application.

Interested in trying it yourself? A limited version of Media Enforcer is available for free as well, although it won't return the correct IP addresses for Gnutella or the user names for Napster. Hurry up and get a copy now to find out how it feels to play Big Brother!
