Exporting Microsoft Products - What you need to know!

NEW! On September 16, 1999, The White House announced a new encryption policy allowing for the export of retail encryption commodities and software of any key length to any country except for the seven state supporters of terrorism.

CURRENT REGULATIONS ON ENCRYPTION ARE STILL IN PLACE. The administration intends to clarify and publish this new policy in the export regulations by December 15, 1999.

Microsoft will continue to comply with the current encryption regulations until the new regulations are published in the Federal Register. We will provide additional information on the availability of Microsoft strong encryption products at that time.

Details of the announcement can be accessed by going to the Bureau of Export Administration webpage at: http://www.bxa.doc.gov/encryption.
