AnotherUniverse.com needs a creative and assertive self-starter to join our award-winning magazine. This person will assist the Editor in Chief in managing a staff, managing a budget, and creating and fulfilling a vision of how AnotherUniverse.com should expand and improve its news coverage, both breaking and feature stories. Strong television and/or print experience (as well as Web) is required; knowledge in the niches covered by AnotherUniverse.com, is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Write and edit several stories a week including regular columns Seek out and report news and conduct investigative reports Help develop publishing strategies Maintain Web site and contribute to Web site improvement efforts Maintain freelancer communications and manage budget Maintain editorial calendar and prepare editorial reports

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Must be an avid internet user Strong proofreading skills. Good grasp of grammar and spelling with an eye for detail. Very helpful to have familiarity with Comic Book and Sci-Fi industries Computer literacy a must. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be able to work under deadlines. Copywriter

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Copywriter will work with the Art Director to produce a monthly catalog, as well as four to five seasonal catalogs per year. This includes all sell copy, editing, creating and implementing proofing schedules plus some marketing and design input will be expected. Most of this work will be done in QuarkXPress. In addition to the catalogs the Copywriter will be responsible for the production of print ads, inserts and various circulars, creation of online advertising including weekly banner ads, and supporting the online store when necessary. Other responsibilities include writing monthly ad solicits, dealing with vendors and publishers, and managing a junior writer.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum of three to four years of agency or print experience Three to fours years of writing experience, preferably in catalogs Must be creative and should have some familiarity with the comic book and science fiction fields Must have strong proofing and editing skills as well as the ability to manage multiple projects and production schedules Some familiarity with QuarkXPress a must. Internet experience also very helpful

GRAPHIC ARTIST

RESPONSIBILITIES

We're looking for an entry level person who has a strong eye for design to work closely with art director and graphic artists. Duties include tasks such as design, web graphics production, scanning, photography, image manipulation, etc. Dont worry if you're not an expert, we will help the right motivated individual with on the job training. Good organizational skills necessary.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Some experience in web graphics essential. Art background and print production experience a plus. Applications including Debabelizer, Photoshop, QuarkXpress, Illustrator or Freehand very helpful.
