Correction: We erroneously reported that the Sony MZ-50 has only one extra-bass setting and does not allow the user to control recording volume. In fact, it has two levels of extra bass, and it's possible to adjust the recording volume by hitting Record and Pause at the same time, then using the Seek buttons. (11/20/98)

10 ways the Internet doesn't work
Correction: Our article erroneously mentioned that Internet addiction has been added to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV), which psychiatrists use to diagnose mental illness. In fact, the most commonly cited study on Internet addiction uses the DSM-IV's criteria for pathological gambling to define "Internet addiction." There is no concurrence among psychologists that Internet addiction is or should be listed as a separate disorder. (5/27/98)
