Not much to say here...more questions, more answers. Enjoy, and as always... keep 'em coming...

"With MARTHA WASHINGTON SAVE THE WORLD due to start this month, I wonder do FRANK MILLER & DAVE GIBBONS have any more plans for Martha?"

and...

"Will there be another mini of STEVEN GRANT'S & MIKE ZECK'S crime drama DAMNED?" - Scott (becoming a regular) Tilson

"Oh, there'll be more Martha after she 'SAVES THE WORLD; I think you'll find her left in a really intriguing situation at the end of the mini-series! You'll have to read it to find out and, of course, to see if she really DOES save the World..." - Dave Gibbons

"Undecided at the moment. There'll be at least another 6-8 pages that we're preparing as a coda for the trade paperback collection of the mini, though it's not yet settled where that will be coming out of (probably Homage). Mike and I are putting together our next project, which we actually began before DAMMED, and firming up a publishing contract for that. No details yet, but as soon as we have a contract we'll flood you with them. DAMNED is on our minds, and big sales of the TPB will certainly push it to the forefront. We'll probably do another DAMNED mini-series in the not too distant future, though it may not star Mick Thorne. I've sort of been thinking about focusing on Wally, the third member of the Triangle, who killed Doug Orton. Mick would probably be in it, though..." - Steven D. Grant

"Sometimes, when I open my comics, at the top of every single page, there are these (expletive) pink/purple rectangles, about 1 cm x 5 cm. What the (expletive) are those things? Why are they there, other than to mess up beautiful splash pages and (expletive) readers off? For an example of these annoying little (expletive), check out this months CAPTAIN AMERICA #1, or just about any issue of JLA." - Cale McCallum

Whoa Cale, chill brother...

"I think those little color boxes on the top of the pages are there to help newsstand guys know when something goes "off sale." For example, all January titles might have green boxes on top. So when Feb. comes around, the newsstand guy can skim through his rack and pull all the green boxed comics....Make sense?" - Dan Raspler, JLA Editor

"There's been a lot of rumors about a new GEORGE PEREZ-illustrated JLA/Avengers project, but it's apparently still in the "maybe someday stage". Why can't Marvel and DC release the JLA/Avengers book that Perez drew almost 15 years ago? I remember seeing some of the penciled pages reproduced in fanzines, so I know they exist. Since this project was begun before DC's Crisis (and before the JLA's history was rewritten), they could release it as an ELSEWORLDS graphic novel to avoid any continuity conflicts. I know I'd buy it, as I'm sure any Perez fan would..." - Arthur Cadeaux.

"This is one of the most often-asked questions I get. The JLA/AVENGERS artwork is now the physical property of ROB LIEFELD, who bought all the pages a few years ago. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that those pages will ever be used since I believe the powers that be have long ago written those pages off as a loss. Besides, even if the project is restarted, those original pages would have to go through major redrawing anyway so they can match my current art style. 12 years is a long time ago. Rob has displayed the pages at the major conventions this past year (after I displayed them a few years ago at Heroes Con in Charlotte, NC, before Rob's purchase) and I'm afraid that that is as close as it will ever get to being seen by a wide audience. Sorry." - George Perez

"What the heck happened to MIKE GRELL's JON SABLE from CALIBER? The 1st issue was solicited, but I have yet to see it or a solicitation for subsequent issues. - Andrew Kolvek

"I'd have to say that SABLE is officially canceled. Basically what happened is, Mike Grell said he was going to have the issue done by such and such time, the time came and went without any word from him, so the book is canceled. It will not be rescheduled without at least the first 2 issues in house." - Joe Pruett, Caliber Comics Creative Director

"What's the story on the BLANC NOIR books from DARK HORSE? Cully Hamner's BRAVE was solicited, but then was never shipped. Are these books canceled?" - sbruns6175@aol.com

"The Blanc Noir series was never canceled, but it was put on hold for a while. In a nutshell, the original plan from way back when was to release the Blanc Noir titles simultaneously instead of releasing each one individually. This didn't work, so the original plans were scrapped and had to be put on hold and reconsidered. The current situation -- at least 3 BN titles are currently on the schedule for next year. MAXIMUM VELOCITY by Brian Stelfreeze and Karl Story is due to hit stores in October of '98. A sequel to BODY BAGS by Jason Pearson (witfully titled BODY BAGS 2) is slated for January of '99, and Cully Hamner's BRAVE is due out in April of '98. There also exists the possibility of a HERETIC 2, but nothing is on our schedule yet. One Blanc Noir title has been put on hold indefinitely - NO ONE by Adam Hughes." - Spokesperson for Dark Horse Comics

"What is going on with the mythic DC/Vertigo PHANTOM STRANGER series? - Ed Douglas

"This has gone through a few different permutations (i.e., writers); someone interesting is working on it now, but it's really only still at the talking stages." - Stuart Moore Vertigo/HELIX Senior Editor

"Without any disrespect to the late Mark Gruenwald at ALL (I'm his biggest fan), we all know he fired ROGER STERN from The AVENGERS back in the 80s. I would love to ask Roger Stern is...what story ideas did he have for the AVENGERS, what direction did he want to go in, did he have an idea for issue #300? I would love to know what the Avengers would have been like if Stern had been allowed to do his thing." -- David Wright

"Oh, gee...that was over ten years ago. I seem to recall that I'd planned to have the Avengers get involved with clearing Power Man's name and revealing that Master Khan (a.k.a. Tyrone King) was behind his misfortunes (gave that little wrinkle to Brother Byrne for use in NAMOR). And I was thinking of involving Loki in issue #300...but, of course, I never got a change to follow through on those plans. " - Roger Stern

"What's RICK LEONARDI been doing lately? I haven't seen anything from him since FANTASTIC FOUR 2099 #1. Am I just looking in the wrong places? - Shawn Henehan

Wrong places Shawn...one of the places Leonardi's been hanging out is EVENT Comics, doing some PAINKILLER JANE for Waid & Augustyn. But if it's MARVEL Leonardi you crave, he'll be penciling the upcoming CABLE/MACHINEMAN '98 Annual, written by Michael Higgins. Which by the way, along with its companion special MACHINEMAN/BASTION, will reveal the origin of the X-Men foe. Who says marvel doesn't address dangling plotlines...?

"I read at Wildstorm online (in the Stinky Peon review section) that there was going to be another CAPTAIN AMERICA series starting in '98 and that it would be written by MARK WAID and penciled by ANDY KUBERT. Is any of this true, and if so what is going to happen to KA-ZAR?" - Matthew Murray

Answers to that question Matthew, and question you didn't even know you had in this week's NEWSARAMA proper.

ASK NEWSARAMA is exactly what it says it is. The CBI-N has all these phone numbers and email addresses lying around, so we figured "what the heck" and opened up the floor to you the comic readers, just for the fun of it. Anyone with a question for about the industry or for a professional, forward it to ASK the CBI-N, and keep watching this column for your answer.
