Heroes Reborn: The Return 2
Written by Peter David
Drawn by Salvador Larroca and Art Thibert
Marvel Comics
Ashema of the Celestials has already outpowered Franklin Richards, and now she takes out none other than Loki. Back on the mainstream Marvel earth, the Hulk is drunk with power and roaming the streets of Manhattan. The Thunderbolts and the US Army try to bring him in, with the help of Doc Samson, while Spider-Man tries to reason with the green goliath. And in his pocket universe, Franklin Richards tries to convince Reed and Sue that he's their son...even as Reed discovers a threat to Earth that makes Galactus seem like a mere inconvenience.
If you haven't been following the "Heroes Reborn" books, this series is your chance to play catch-up before the heroes return in three weeks! And if that's not enough, next issue features a battle between the Hulk...and the Hulk. (Our money's on the Hulk...)
Heroes Reborn: The Return 2 is available at our on-line store.
X-Men 70
Writer: Joe Kelly
Penciller: Carlos Pacheco
Inker: Art Thibert
Marvel Comics
New writer Joe Kelly (Daredevil, Deadpool) makes his debut with this tense thriller. The X-Men, already exhausted from their battle with Bastion, struggle to use their powers to help Dr. Cecelia Reyes remove a bomb implanted in Cyclops' chest. And as if that weren't enough, Juggernaut shows up at their door -- with a lawyer in tow, to boot.
This issue follows a classic structure, as each member uses his or her powers to save Cyclops and deal with the Juggernaut. Even though the story seems familiar, however, it's done with such grace and skill that you'll be on the edge of your seat as you read it. The X-Men haven't had a story this exciting in years.
X-Men 70 is available at our on-line store.
Ascension 2
Written and Drawn by Tony Finch and Batt

Ascension serves up more angels and action than you can shake a stick at. There's been a big angel craze going on the last few years, but you can bet they weren't talking about THESE angels!

Thunderbolts 9

Artists: Mark Bagley and Ron Frenz
Marvel Comics
When an angry Black Widow confronts Mach-1 and Songbird, they become frightened that she knows they are really members of the Masters of Evil. Instead, however, she tells them a cautionary tale of from Avengers history. Almost a decade ago, the public feared and distrusted new Avengers Hawkeye, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch because of their villainous pasts. But when Captain America was captured, they had to overcome public mistrust and their own doubts to rescue Cap.
Thunderbolts continues to amaze as we learn that at least two members of the team may be having second thoughts about their loyalty to Citizen V (aka Baron Zemo). And the flashback to the early days of the Avengers is a nice warm-up to the team's return later this month.

Resurrection Man 8
Writer: Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning
Artist: Jackson Guice
DC Comics>
It's Halloween, which makes Mitch Shelley's current shape-shifting power all the more appropriate. As Mitch tries to make his way back to Viceroy, South Carolina, he stops over in Lonesome, Virginia. There he meets a young boy whose father is determined to capture the legendary "Big Howler" creature said to walk the forests near Lonesome.
This is a lighter story than your average issue of Resurrection Man, and it also serves as a good jumping-on point for new readers. This is one of the creepiest books out there, so you might want to check it out to get a head start on Halloween.
